Privacy Policy
Aced it? · Last updated: 2026/09/30
The short version
Aced it? collects nothing about you. Your notes, photos, and cards never leave your device unless you turn on iCloud sync yourself — and even then they only go to your own private iCloud account, never to us.
Privacy tier: 2 — Connected
Every Tidy App declares one of three tiers, and the tier states exactly what the app does and does not send. Aced it? is Tier 2, and keeps to the stricter rules of Tier 1: what you write stays on your device, and the only thing that can move it is iCloud sync, which you switch on yourself. What the tiers mean.
| Your cards | Stored on the device. With iCloud sync on (off by default), also in your own private iCloud database. |
| Photos & PDFs | Read on the device. Never uploaded for processing. |
| Usage data | None. |
| Purchases | Handled by Apple. We never see a payment detail. |
If anything here ever changes, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated in the same release that changes it — never before, and never after.
Data Collection
Aced it? does not collect any personal data. There are no analytics, no crash reporting tools, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers of any kind built into the app.
Data Storage
Everything you enter into Aced it? — subject names, deck titles, card content, source photos, PDFs you import, text recognised from them, cards you have captured but not yet added, and your review history — is stored on your device using Apple's on-device storage. If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, that same content is also stored in your own private iCloud database, so it can appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. We have no servers and no access to your data in either case.
Photos
Photos you capture or pick from your library for use as card sources are stored on your device (and, only if you turn sync on, in your own iCloud account). They are never uploaded, shared, or accessed by anyone other than you. Text recognition is performed on your device by Apple's Vision framework; no image data is sent off-device for processing.
The recognised text is then analysed on your device by Apple's NaturalLanguage framework, which suggests which word in a sentence to blank out for a fill-in-the-blank card. That analysis reads the words already on your page — it never writes, changes, or invents any — and it also happens entirely on your device. You can turn the suggestions off in Settings.
PDFs
PDFs you import into Aced it? are read on your device. Selected regions are passed to the same on-device text recognition and text analysis. The PDF itself is not uploaded anywhere; neither is the extracted text, except as part of your own iCloud sync if you have turned that on.
Third Parties
Aced it? contains no third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, or external services. Vision and NaturalLanguage both run entirely on your device and perform no network activity. The only frameworks that perform any network activity are Apple's own StoreKit (described in "Purchases & Payments" below) and, if you turn it on, Apple's own CloudKit (described in "iCloud & Sync" below). Both are Apple-operated; Tidy Apps has no server of its own and never sees this traffic.
iCloud & Sync
Aced it? can optionally sync your subjects, decks and cards between your own devices using Apple's CloudKit, through your existing iCloud account. This is off by default. You turn it on yourself, in Settings → iCloud sync, where a plain sentence explains what it does before you switch it on.
When sync is off — the default — nothing about your notes, decks, cards, photos, or review history leaves your device, and every part of the app, including capturing new cards and reviewing due ones, works exactly the same with no internet connection at all.
When you turn sync on, your card content is written to the private CloudKit database tied to your own Apple ID. Only you can read it there: Apple provides the storage and the sync mechanism, and Tidy Apps has no visibility into, and no access to, anything stored in your private database. No account with Tidy Apps is created or required. You can turn sync off again at any time, and the app keeps working locally either way.
Purchases & Payments
Aced it? is free to download and free to use. Free use includes creating up to 10 new cards per day; browsing, editing, organising, and reviewing your cards are unlimited and always free. It offers one optional in-app purchase:
- Aced it? Plus is a one-time, non-consumable purchase of $5.99 (or the local equivalent in your App Store storefront) that removes the daily limit on new cards permanently.
- It is not a subscription. Nothing auto-renews, nothing expires, and there is no free trial to forget to cancel.
- It restores on every device signed in to the same Apple ID, via "Restore purchase" in Settings.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
All payment processing and refunds are handled entirely by Apple via the App Store. We — the developer, Tidy Apps — never see your payment details, your Apple ID, your billing address, or any personally identifying information about you. We do not run servers, and no purchase-related data is sent to us.
The app uses Apple's StoreKit framework to check whether you own Aced it? Plus. That check is a local API call that may, on Apple's side, talk to Apple's servers. We have no visibility into that traffic and no involvement in it beyond receiving a yes/no ownership answer from the framework.
The count of how many cards you have made today is stored on your device only, and is never transmitted anywhere — including through iCloud sync.
For Apple's terms governing the purchase itself, see the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Children's Privacy
Aced it? collects no personal data from anyone, including minors. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store. There are no accounts, no usernames, no chat, no social features, and no advertising. iCloud sync, described above, is off by default and uses your own existing Apple ID — Aced it? never asks for or collects one.
